“Containment” captures everything! I photograph and graphically play with the packaging of technology, in the form fitting plastics and the rough pressed cardboard or natural fiber boxes which hold space for devices and their accoutrements. Shapely, and almost architectural, are the places for printers and their plugs, separate compartments made for cameras with their cables, holding on tightly, protectively, to no longer simple lightbulbs, or the impossible to open thumb drives and camera cards, hard “shrink wraps” that shine and reflect. Where else can a bevy of boxes come to stay, newly colorful and creative, from the artist’s play!? And what is contained in tech too – the insides that hide behind plastic, or hardware that holds the ‘stuff’ of life together. “Containment” revitalizes what is meant to protect, to transport, and store – then be thrown out. I capture, connect, and add to the creativity that surrounds the object we surround ourselves with. Recycling and reusing one more time the PET-perfect plastics and molded fiber packaging materials, made green by their provenance and conclusion, seeming opposites but so alike!
